MicroLink Devices is currently developing a line of high efficiency multijunction solar cells for use in solar concentrators. We make use of our MOCVD technology and some unique processing steps to minimize the amount of GaAs used in the solar cells. This has the potential to reduce the cost of the solar cell by 50% while improving heat dissipation from the cell.
MicroLink has been selected to receive an award of $3 million to develop solar cell technology as part of the Department of Energy’s Solar America Initiative.
